Conservatory Painting in Cardiff

Conservatory painting in Cardiff by Primrose Decor, exterior framework preparation and spray finish

Primrose Decor paint and respray conservatories across Cardiff.

Most Cardiff conservatories installed between the 1990s and 2010s have white UPVC frameworks — now yellowing, stained, or outdated in colour. We repaint UPVC, aluminium, and timber frames at a fraction of the cost of replacement.

What we cover:

  • UPVC conservatory frameworks — colour change or refresh, including white to grey
  • Aluminium conservatory frames — specialist primer and finish for metal profiles
  • Timber conservatory frames — exterior preparation and paint for period lean-to structures
  • Dwarf walls and surrounding brickwork — completing the full refresh
  • Combined conservatory and window frame projects

Why Choose Primrose Decor

Specialist UPVC Primers

Standard paint will not bond to UPVC without the correct primer system. We match the adhesion system to the frame material.

Masking Skill

Conservatories have large glazing areas. Thorough masking is essential — overspray on glass is difficult to remove.

Honest Assessment

Where a conservatory is structurally failing, we say so. Where it is sound, repainting makes strong financial sense.

Fully Insured

Full public liability cover on every job.

Conservatory Painting Services in Cardiff

UPVC Conservatory Frameworks

UPVC is the most common conservatory frame material across Cardiff. White UPVC installed in the 1990s and early 2000s yellows with UV exposure. For homeowners in Cyncoed, Radyr, and Rhiwbina wanting to update a structurally sound conservatory, respraying is the practical option — replacement costs £5,000–£20,000 or more.

We clean and degrease all UPVC profiles, abrade lightly for adhesion, apply a UPVC adhesion primer, and finish with two spray coats of exterior paint. The most common colour change is from old white to anthracite grey or dark charcoal.

Aluminium Conservatory Frames

Older conservatories on Cardiff properties from the 1970s and 1980s — particularly larger detached homes in Cyncoed, Lisvane, and Llandaff — are often aluminium-framed. Aluminium requires a different primer to UPVC, and the more intricate sections and jointing demand careful masking. We allow additional preparation time for aluminium structures.

Timber Conservatory Frames

Victorian and Edwardian properties in Pontcanna, Canton, and Penarth sometimes have original timber lean-to conservatories or period-style timber extensions. Timber frames require stripping back flaking paint, sanding, priming with an exterior wood primer, and two coats of exterior paint or specialist timber coating. Penarth properties face persistent wet conditions from the Bristol Channel and need a durable, flexible finish.

Dwarf Walls and Surrounding Brickwork

Many Cardiff conservatories sit on a rendered or brick dwarf wall. We paint this as part of the same project to complete the overall refresh. Combined conservatory, window frame painting, and render painting projects are more cost-effective than separate visits.

Conservatory Painting Costs in Cardiff

Prices below are estimates only. Every property is different. Call 029 2271 0084 for a precise quote.

Typical Range

A small lean-to conservatory (UPVC frame only) typically costs £380–£580. A standard 3m × 4m UPVC conservatory, typical of Cyncoed, Whitchurch, or Lisvane, runs from £480 to £800. Large Victorian-style orangeries or UPVC extensions cost from £750 to £1,200. Aluminium conservatories add £100–£200 for specialist primer.

What Drives the Price

Conservatory size and frame material (UPVC, aluminium, timber) are the main factors. Whether the dwarf wall is included also affects the final cost. We assess on site and provide a fixed price before starting.
